A Little News Before The Fford

We gotta attend to some homestead news before we move on with the Alaska Saga.
Look at the frizzel!!!  Is that not just the funniest little chicken??  Susan brought two more yesterday, can't wait to see if they are light socket babies as well.
The Bab's are hanging out in the bovine hot tub with Jesse and Owens.  The Bob's are still just a bunch of freaks and split their time between the lagoon and the doe yard.  Susan's Bob took a look at the Bob formerly known as Isabell
and said, "Oh look, a Bouffant Bob."  So i am changing their official names to Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob and Bouffant Bob.
I was at Susan's day before yesterday for a mini-ducksecution, and we start to collect volunteers when Susan tells me to be sure not to get the breeding pair and all i see is two dozen ducks that all look alike (go see her blog post for a really groovy pic of them all...she musta paid them all to line up like soldiers...or else they were all trying to be good so they wouldn't get volunteered.)

Around these parts, i am known to always be packin' a Sharpie.  I just adore Sharpie's.  You would be amazed at how handy they are.  Especially when there are a bunch of kids running around with lookalike cups.  I have fat ones, skinny ones, colored ones, clicky ones, short ones on my key chain, and plain old black ones.  The favored gift is always some kinda newfangled sharpie.  Keep your diamonds, i want indelible ink.

Imagine my delight when i asked Susan to mark the pair, thinking we would be putting a zip-tie on their little ankles (another one of my favorite things,) when Susan whips out her Sharpie and starts coloring the outside feathers.

I'm tellin' ya, no one should walk around without a Sharpie in their pocket.  They are good for SO many things!
Persy has a headache.  He was being a bad buckling, so we had to remove his little persimmons, to insure that there are no accidents in the doe yard.

I hated to do it, but he made me.
Actually, i think he hated it worse than i did.

He was quite the drama king about it, too.  Susan, Bob (Big Bob, not ducky Bob or Bouffant Bob,) Ellie May and i laughed at the antics and narrated the action for a good thirty minutes.  I have some pretty funny video of the attempts at walking and the pitiful complaints, but am afraid PETA would not understand that this is really for his and everyone else's own good, and they are not a cat i wanna swing.  So i am keepin' that one to myself.

But if ya wanna come over for coffee.....

Gidget caught a ride with Susan and Bob and joined the herd today.  She is still a little outta sorts, so i am waiting until she is in a better mood to take her mug shot.  Looks a lot like Doodles, though.  We are very excited about this breeding, and can't believe the size of her...she is five months old, and almost as big as Splendora and Paris, who are a year and change.  No wonder Susan called the triplets "The Monster Kids."

And Finally, just some pics i wanna share.

Okay so if the ducks start having babies you need a Bob-bippity, Bob-bopity, and Bob-boo.

Doesn't EVERYBODY carry a Sharpie in their pocket?

Those rings of mushrooms actually used to be called fairy rings, but I suppose in the 21st century it is easier to believe in aliens.
